Class of 2020 High School Graduation Ceremonies
Parents/Guardians of Class of 2020,
District and school officials in Richland Parish continue to have ongoing
discussions concerning high school graduation ceremony dates, times, and
places for the Class of 2020. High school graduation is an important
milestone in the lives of our children. Our schools wish to ensure to the
degree possible the integrity and protocol associated with previous
graduation ceremonies. Decisions regarding assemblies for high school
graduation will be guided by current proclamations and future executive
orders given by Governor John Bel Edwards. The public health emergency
created by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) mandates postponing or cancelling
all gatherings of 10 people or more. Guidelines from the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) pertaining to groupings of adults
differs from that of groupings for students. At a time when the
appropriate guidance is given to allow for public assemblies that align
with the capacity of graduation ceremonies, high school principals will
communicate dates, times, places, and other pertinent information with
seniors, parents/guardians, and the greater school community. We ask for
your continued patience and support as we comply with the Governor's order
to protect the health and safety of the public. I encourage you to
regularly visit the district and school websites located at
www.richland.k12.la.us for updates. Continue to stay safe and practice
social distancing to promote safety during this public health emergency.
