A Richland Parish student has placed 2nd in the Governor’s Office of Disability Affairs Art Contest.

Jamal Fountain is a senior at Delhi High School. He is a student of Jennifer Hoychick, one of the Gifted and Talented Art teachers in Richland Parish. The theme of the contest was “Creativity Meets Advocacy: A Tribute to Disability Advocates”. Jamal chose Stevie Wonder for his role as an advocate for people with disabilities.

Jamal will be honored during the Inclusive Art Awards Program in December at the Old State Capitol Building by Governor Landry.

He is not only one of the most talented students I’ve had the privilege to work with, but he is extremely kind and respectful. He is very deserving of this honor.” Jennifer Hoychick, Richland Parish Gifted and Talented Art teacher
