{"id":252,"date":"2022-09-14T16:09:02","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T16:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/richland.k12.la.us\/des\/?p=252"},"modified":"2022-09-14T16:26:42","modified_gmt":"2022-09-14T16:26:42","slug":"act-315","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/richland.k12.la.us\/des\/index.php\/2022\/09\/14\/act-315\/","title":{"rendered":"Act 315"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">Act 315\n\nEnacts R.S. 17:436.1(N) to require the governing authority of each public\nelementary and secondary school to adopt a policy to maintain a supply of\nauto-injectable Epinephrine in a secure location in each classroom\nassigned to a student who is deemed by his physician to be at high risk\nfor anaphylactic reaction and incapable of self-administration of\nauto-injectable Epinephrine. Such policy shall require the student\u2019s\nparent or legal guardian to annually provide the school with the supply of\nEpinephrine, written certification from the student\u2019s licensed medical\nphysician that the student is at high risk of having anaphylaxis, written\nauthorization for the student to be administered the medication, and a\ntreatment plan from the student\u2019s licensed medical physician for managing\nanaphylactic episodes. The governing authority of the public elementary\nand secondary school shall inform the parent or legal guardian of the\nstudent in writing that the school and its employees shall incur no\nliability as a result of any injuries sustained by the student from the\ngood faith administration of auto-injectable Epinephrine. The parent or\nlegal guardian shall sign a statement acknowledging that the school shall\nincur no liability and that the parent or legal guardian shall indemnify\nand hold harmless the school and its employees against any claims that may\narise relating to the good faith administration of auto-injectable\nEpinephrine. Each school shall include the policy required by this statute\nin its student handbook and shall post it on the school\u2019s website if it\nhas one.
