PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS
The Richland Parish School Board recognizes the right of its professional staff members to join and take part in professional associations of their own choosing. Absence from work for the purpose of taking part in activities of professional organizations shall require Board or Superintendent approval. Therefore, staff members who accept association offices and/or duties which will require their absence from school during working hours, or which otherwise will encroach upon the time they normally spend on their regular assignments, should seek the Superintendent's approval before accepting such association offices or duties.
When duties of the office are expected to exceed the approved number of days for requested professional leave, a tentative calendar of professional leave indicating events and dates shall be submitted to the Superintendent for approval before the opening of school for school year(s) affected.
