RETIREMENT

It shall be the policy of the Richland Parish School Board to require written notice of retirement of all employees who wish to retire.  Such retirement shall become effective upon the acceptance of the retirement by the Superintendent.  Once notice has been received and accepted by the Superintendent, this decision may not be rescinded.

All employees shall be required, as a condition of employment, to become members of the retirement system for which they are eligible.

DROP PROGRAM

The Deferred Retirement Option Plan is an optional method of retirement, but eligible employees continue to work while accumulating retirement benefits.  The employee may continue to work for the School Board after completing all DROP program requirements.  Employees that opt to participate in the DROP retirement program remain active employees of the School Board, and as such shall be subject to and be expected to abide by all statutory provisions, and pertinent rules and regulations of the School Board.
