Professional staff positions are created by the Richland Parish School Board, but only when the Superintendent recommends such positions.  It is the Board's intent to activate a sufficient number of positions to accomplish the district's goals and objectives.

Before any new position is established, the Superintendent will recommend the position and present for the Board's approval a job description for the position that specifies the required qualifications, the job responsibilities, and the method by which the performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated.

It is the policy of this Board to promote personnel within the district based on qualifications.  No person in this district shall, on the basis of age, handicap, race, color, religion, sex or national origin, be denied the benefits or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal assistance.

Along with other efforts of the Superintendent to recruit the best possible applicants for administrative positions, notices shall be posted in all school buildings concerning vacancies which occur and a notice will be sent to the local newspaper.  Such notices shall describe the job, minimum qualifications, duties, and the salary range.

The Superintendent shall submit nominations to the Board for administrative and supervisory personnel appointments.  The Board may accept or reject nominations.  In the case of rejection, it is the duty of the Superintendent to make another nomination.

The Superintendent shall maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date set of job descriptions of all positions in the Richland Parish School District.
