The Richland Parish School Board met at its offices in Rayville, Louisiana, on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 6:00 p.m.

Item 3         addition of item 15; addendum to policy concerning graduation.

Agenda        Mr. Whitstine moved, seconded by Mrs. Jones, to approve the April 13, 2010,

Item 4           Regular Session minutes before publishing in the Official Journal.

Agenda        The board recognized three students whose art will be in the superintendent’s

Item 5           art gallery at the State Department of Education.

Agenda       Mr. Adams moved, seconded by Mrs. Jordan to approve the revisions pertaining to end

Item 8         of the year schedule on 2009-2010 school calendar AND revisions due to clerical error

                  on 2010-2011 school calendar; (for archival data)

Item 10       Pupil Progression Plan Committee Parent Designees.

Agenda       The board discussed the discipline policy for extracurricular events and agreed to research

Item 12       it further and see what other parishes are using.  It was mentioned that the same policy

                  used for school day discipline should also be used for extracurricular events.

Agenda       Mr. Guine moved, seconded by Mr. Adams to approve the addendum to the Richland

Item 15       Parish School Board Policy File: IKDB Cf:IHF - Graduation Exercises.

No student will be allowed to participate in commencement exercises until they have successfully completed a minimum of twenty-three (23) Camegie units, as presented by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and passed all required components of the state Graduation Exit Examination. Special Education students must meet all program requirements to receive a certificate of completion and participate in commencement exercises.

Addendum:

A student who has been exited in the Student Information System (SIS) as obtaining a GED, Skill Certificate, or Industry Based Certificate may participate in commencement exercises. The decision of participation in commencement exercises will be made by the building level principal.
